Comparison

FoodTracker vs typical trackers.

Same goals — fewer distractions. Here is how we bias the product.

Aspect FoodTracker Typical calorie app
Logging Fast and editable — photo, barcode, or search; every estimate is confirmable Slow search, or “magic” logging you cannot correct
Macros Always on screen — calories, protein, carbs, fat, fiber Often paywalled, buried, or swapped for streaks
Distractions None — no feed, no streak theater, no AI chat Social, coaches, agents, and insight noise
Billing Apple billing with a clear free vs Premium boundary Opaque upsells, ads, or surprise paywalls

I built FoodTracker after MyFitnessPal showed me three interstitial ads during a single meal log. Logging should not be interrupted or gamified.

Features

What it does.

Log your way

Photo, barcode, or search — pick the fastest input. Photo analysis estimates a meal; you confirm portions before they count.

Macros always visible

Calories, protein, carbs, fat, and fiber stay on screen. Not paywalled. Not buried under a feed.

Every estimate is editable

Correct grams, swap foods, verify macros. Logging stays under your control — fast when you want speed, precise when you need it.

Weight as history

Record weight next to what you actually ate. History you can trust — not prediction theater or insight dashboards.

Fasting on the same timeline

Log fasting windows alongside meals so the day reads as one record, not scattered tabs.

Built for iPhone

Native iOS, Apple subscription billing, clear free vs Premium boundary. No ads. No coaches. No chatbots.

How it works

Four steps from capture to a clean log.

Capture. Confirm. Correct. Move on.

  1. 1
    Capture the meal

Photo, barcode, or search — pick the fastest input for where you are.

  2. 2
    Review the estimate

Calories and macros appear. Edit portions when the estimate is off.

  3. 3
    Correct and confirm

Verify protein, carbs, and fat before you save. Nothing chats with you about dinner.

  4. 4
    Keep the history

Weight and meals stay on one timeline — a record you can trust, not a dashboard show.

FoodTracker — common questions.

How accurate is AI meal analysis?

Estimates depend on photo clarity and dish complexity. Treat outputs as a strong starting point—edit portions anytime to match how you actually ate.

Does FoodTracker work offline?

Core logging features are built for everyday use on device; some AI and sync capabilities require network access. See in-app messaging for current behavior.

Can I track intermittent fasting?

Yes—fasting windows live alongside your food timeline so you can see the full day in one place.

Is my data sold to advertisers?

No. Read the FoodTracker privacy policy for how data is handled, including sync and subscription verification.

What does FoodTracker cost?

Core logging is free and unlimited. AI photo analysis includes 20 free AI photo analyses total (up to 3 per UTC day on the free tier). Premium subscribers get unlimited AI photo analysis while subscribed. You can also connect your own OpenAI API key for unlimited server-bypassing AI. Billing is through Apple—see the App Store listing for current pricing, trials, and regional offers.
